| St Gabriel's School Blackburn, Lancashire had suffered problems of leaking roofs for years from it's 1960 built up felt flat roof.
The original roof structure on a number of levels was constructed of timber joists covered with plywood decking and multi layers of built up felt roofing.
After discussions with the Local Authority the decision was made in 1999 to carry out a "flat to pitch" conversion on the School, using a lightweight steel Dibsadeck Structure.
Following the local Authority's tendering process DW Tilley of Warrington, who are approved Dibsadeck installers, were awarded the contract.
Over a 12 week period the Dibsadeck frame was installed and secured back down to the existing structural members.
It was then roofed with Plastisol coated steel Stramit Speeddeck secret fix roof sheeting, together with new gutters and soffits.
All completed whilst the school remained in operation.
The result for parents, teachers, pupils and the local community is a weathertight roof and an aesthetically pleasing building. |
