Case 01: MFI - Wigan

The MFI store at Wigan is a 1970's building roofed with asbestos cement sheeting which had been leaking for some time through cracked sheets and failing fixings.

With a constantly leaking roof effecting the showrooms below a decision was made to tackle the roof with a long term solution.

Being unpractical to re-roof the building whilst continuing trading it was decided to overclad the existing roof.

After a tender process D.W.Tilley Ltd of Warrington were chosen to carry out the work in the summer of 2002.

New lightweight steel sections were secured through the existing roof to the existing steel purlins providing a new framework for the new roofing.

The new roof covering was a profiled plastisol coated steel cladding by Heys Shaw Ltd with roof lights over the existing.

All completed on time, on budget, whilst the store continued trading.
